Will You Have to Appear in Court During Your Bankruptcy?

Many people are afraid that they will have to appear in court during their bankruptcy case. However, most people never see a courtroom, a judge, or creditors during their bankruptcy. Instead, the only thing that most people must do is appear at the Meeting of Creditors. The Meeting of Creditors takes place in a room with you, your attorney, and someone called the bankruptcy trustee. It is a very relaxed setting where a number of issues concerning your bankruptcy will be addressed, making the situation much clearer as you move forward. The Meeting of Creditors generally lasts three to five minutes and creditors almost never appear.

We will represent your interests during the Meeting of Creditors and make sure you are completely prepared for the minimal role you may have. Whether you are filing Chapter 7 or Chapter 13, we will move your case through the process as quickly as possible so you can begin rebuilding your credit.
