Discharge of Debts in Bankruptcy

Freedom From Your Debts at the End of Bankruptcy

The whole purpose of bankruptcy is to get out from under the burden of overwhelming debt so that you can make a new beginning. When a bankruptcy is completed, you receive an official notification from the court stating that you no longer have any personal responsibility for the eligible debts that were included in your initial filing. This is called a discharge of debts.

At the Price Law Firm, we help people throughout central Florida file for consumer bankruptcy, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. We represent clients in all types of consumer bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. You can count on us to be there with you at every step, working to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

After You Receive Your Discharge

Once you have received your discharge, you will begin the process of rebuilding your credit. It won't be too long before you start to receive offers for credit in the mail. These are excellent opportunities to re-establish your credit and get some positive payment history behind you. Be careful about which offers you accept, and make sure you are working with reputable creditors.

You should also request a copy of your credit report to ensure that all of the debts that were discharged in your bankruptcy have been removed. Incorrect reporting can have a negative impact on your credit rating. If you find errors on your credit report, our lawyers can help you get them corrected.
